For the second year the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA) and Brides Magazine held their annual contest open to WPJA members. This contest is first judged by five premier photojournalists and then again by the Brides magazine staff. One of my images placed 9th in their "Bride & Groom" category. It is an image from Matt & Sarah's wedding which was held at Nestldown in California. Nestldown has an old London Taxi that they use to take the B&G from their redwood grove ceremony site up to the reception lodge. This shot was taken in that taxi...
Every once in a while when I am up in the Boulder or Smokey mountains, a military jet will scream through the valley below me. It's there only a moment and it is louder than hell and every time it's an amazing sight to see. Jon is the lucky guy who gets to fly those jets--only over the Sierra range in California (which makes his job even cooler). Courtney is a Canadian and met Jon in Perth, Australia, while studying for her Masters Degree in Health. The story of how the met is a fun one that involves an old bar and a very expensive pen and pad of paper. Here are some of their engagment photos. I'll be shooting their wedding in August '09 at Sun Valley's Trail Creek Cabin.

Kim & Dave just hired me to shoot their October 2009 wedding which will be up in Stanley. They came down from their home in Garden Valley to meet up and get some engagement photos. We cruised around the hills surrounding Hailey and some of the older structures on the outskirts of town as well. I'm pretty excited about their wedding next year because Stanley will be all but closed up--their guests will own the town, the after party at the Kasino Club, and that the Fall light up in the Sawtooth Valley is so incredible in the Fall. Here are some of their engagement photos...

This past weekend I was back down in the Bay Area to photograph for two great people, Leslie & Harris. Their wedding was held at the fantastic Nestldown (yes, the "e" is supposed to be missing) which is in the Santa Cruz mountains between the coast and Los Gatos. Leslie & Harris blended their Chinese heritage and American culture together wonderfully by combining tea ceremonies and traditional dresses with a first dance, bouquet toss, cake cutting and the like. Jared Boyd was along as my second shooter and have included some of his great images in this post as well. Congratulations Harris & Leslie!
