Wedding :: Stephanie & Scott :: Lake Tahoe

Scott & Stephanie grew up on opposite sides of Lake Tahoe; Scott was in Nevada & Stephanie in California. So, it was only appropriate that they meet half way and be married on the Lake!

Their day started at the Mont Bleu Hotel at Stateline. From there a limo took the girls to the Safari Rose, an eighty foot yacht, for the 2 hour cruise where Scott & Steph's ceremony was held. Once back, we piled back in the limo and cruised through the Hope Valley en route to Garderville and Scott's folks ranch for the reception. The Sierra Nevada was in good form and its nickname held true, "The Range Of Light" was spectacular.

Scott and Stephanie put together such an amazing day--it was definitely a reflection of how genuine these two people are.

WPJA Q2 Contest

On July 28th, I photographed John and Monica's wedding at Sun Valley, Idaho (check out their blog entry and slideshow). Monica wore high heels on her wedding day. While her shoes were beautiful, they did not work all that well on the soft lawn next to the Duck Pond where she was married. In fact, if I remember her story right--as her heels began sinking into the lawn she flipped a shoe off to stand barefoot. Her flip sent the high heel right into the pond! It was a fantastic moment filled with laughter and smiles. Their officiant bent down and retrieved Monica's soaking wet shoe from the pond, and I captured the moment with my camera.

My good friend, Brett Butterstein, and I are members of the Wedding Photojournalism Association. This association is great for many reasons--but especially because of their quarterly contests! Every quarter, as members of the WPJA we sit down and select our favorite images and submit them to judges with incredible credentials. Once a submission deadline is past, the agonizing wait to see which images will win top honors begins.

Sometimes Brett and I share which images we are likely to submit to these contests. When Brett saw the shoe shot, he immediately thought it would place in the top three of the next contest. Today, the results were released and....Whaboom--First Place for Details (found)! It is fun to win first, but the great story about Monica's sinking heel and Brett's spot-on guess made the win all the more enjoyable!

Congrats to Brett who also placed well in the Weather category!

Here is Monica's soakin' wet heel....

Wedding :: Nicki & Chris :: The Valley Club

Nicki & Chris threw a fabulous wedding...PARTY...at the Valley Club here in the Wood River Valley. The momentum just kept building from the scenic ceremony up to the wild dance floor where it seemed like everyone was getting down! I really enjoyed working for Nicki, Chris, and their family and friends who were all high quality folks.
Lots of photos to share....

Wedding :: Natalie & Jason :: Redfish Lake, Stanley, Idaho

Natalie and Jason were married with their family in attendance on the Northern shore of Redfish lake. Photographing these two getting ready was really special as Jason's two girls were loving all the preperation: hair, makeup, suits & ties, etc. You could about see their minds dreaming of their wedding day!
The sky was blue, little wind, and the temperature was perfect. Stanley's Mayor, Hannah Stauts, married the couple and then everyone headed to Redfish Lodge for dinner.
Here are a few pics....
