Wedding :: Lee & Jeff :: Akumal Caribe (Cancun), Mexico

During her junior year of high school, my wife, Maritt, made friends with the Gilliland family who lived a few blocks down the street. Every morning, Maritt used to pick up Lee and her sister in her Ford Escort station wagon and take them to school. Lee and Maritt have since been to Alaska together twice (once on an outdoor adventure, then to gut fish for a season), they attended the same university, and have enjoyed numerous climbing trips around the west. Basically, they are great friends with a rich history.

When Lee and Jeff announced their wedding plans, it was no suprise that they had chosen an international destination as Lee has traveled on nearly every continent. This last weekend, about 30 or so of Lee and Jeff's family and friends met up in Akumal, Mexico, which is a little over an hour south of Cancun.

The wedding was so much fun. Lots of smiles, dancing, good food, strong margaritas, and a skinny dipping session ended the night! It was also a blast hanging out on the white sandy beaches with everyone, sitting waist deep in tropical waters drinking cervesa, and snorkeling with sea turtles on the days before and after their wedding.

Here are some of the photos from our trip:
